Anna University

Chennai, Tamil Nadu

Anna University was established on 4th September 1978 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and named after C.N. Annadurai, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. It was formed by merging four renowned technical institutions, including the College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG), which dates back to 1794, making it one of the oldest engineering institutions in India.

Over time, Anna University became the affiliating body for many engineering colleges across Tamil Nadu. While it has gone through structural changes over the years, it remains a major center for technical education and research in India.
