Established in 1899 by Shri Krishna Dassji Gurwale, Hindu College emerged during a pivotal era in India's struggle for independence. Initially located in Kinari Bazar, Chandni Chowk, the college was founded with the vision of providing quality education rooted in Indian values, countering the prevailing missionary education system introduced by British colonialists. The institution's early years were marked by its affiliation with Panjab University, and it played a significant role in the Swadeshi and boycott movements, with some governing body members actively participating in the fight for independence.

In 1922, Hindu College became affiliated with the University of Delhi, expanding its academic offerings to include postgraduate courses. The college's commitment to democratic principles was evident with the establishment of the College Parliament in the 1920s, a platform that fostered student governance and leadership.
