Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), also known as Manipal University, was established in 1953 by Dr. T.M.A. Pai, a visionary educationist and philanthropist. It began with the Kasturba Medical College, one of the first private medical colleges in India. Over time, more institutions were added, and in 1993, MAHE was granted the status of a deemed university.
