Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) was established in 1920 as "The Commercial School" in Delhi. It evolved into "The Commercial College" in 1926 and became affiliated with the University of Delhi. Over time, it introduced key academic programs including B.A. (Honours) in Commerce in 1943, M.A. in Economics in 1943, and M.Com. in 1948.

In 1951, the institution was renamed Shri Ram College of Commerce to honor its founder, Sir Shri Ram. It shifted to its current campus in the North Campus of Delhi University in 1954. The college became co-educational in 1957 and expanded academically and infrastructurally over the decades.

Milestones include the launch of the Business Analyst journal in 1968, the construction of various academic blocks, a girls’ hostel, and a modern seminar room.
