Munger University:

Established on 18th March 2018, Munger University is a state university in Bihar, India, created through the bifurcation of Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University. The university began its academic operations in the 2018–19 academic year, marking a significant milestone in the educational landscape of the region.

Its establishment resulted from the visionary efforts of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who conceptualized the idea during a development tour on 16th August 2016. Within two years, his vision transformed into reality, bringing higher education closer to the people of Munger and its surrounding districts.

Jurisdiction and Location

Munger University has jurisdiction over five districts in the Munger Division of Bihar:

Bijoy Kumar Thakur, who serves as the Registrar.

The bills for the establishment of Munger University, along with Purnia and Patliputra University, were passed by the Bihar State Legislature in 2016.
