Munger University:
Established on 18th March 2018, Munger University is a state university in Bihar, India, created through the bifurcation of Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University. The university began its academic operations in the 2018–19 academic year, marking a significant milestone in the educational landscape of the region.
Its establishment resulted from the visionary efforts of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who conceptualized the idea during a development tour on 16th August 2016. Within two years, his vision transformed into reality, bringing higher education closer to the people of Munger and its surrounding districts.

The university is currently functioning from the Science Block of R.D. & D.J. College, Munger, which is strategically located between the ruins of the ancient Nalanda and Vikramshila Vishwavidyalaya, two of India’s most renowned historical centers of learning.
Leadership and Vision
Under the leadership of Prof. Shyama Roy, the Vice-Chancellor, Munger University is striving to become an "embodiment of higher education." Prof. Roy, an institution builder, is actively implementing measures to enhance the university's academic and infrastructural capabilities. The university is also supported by Con. Bijoy Kumar Thakur, who serves as the Registrar.
Establishment and Legal Framework
The creation of Munger University was formalized under the Bihar State Universities (Amendment) Act, 2016 (Bihar Act – 1/2017). The bills for the establishment of Munger University, along with Purnia and Patliputra University, were passed by the Bihar State Legislature in 2016. The official gazette notification for the university's formation was published in March 2018, aligning with the government's announcement.
